2012 Jonas Nurse Leaders Scholar Program Guidelines Released
The goal of the Jonas Nurse Leaders Scholar Program is to increase the number of doctorally prepared faculty available to teach in nursing schools nationwide, as advocated by the Institute of Medicine’s recent report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health. Supported by the Jonas Family Fund at the Jewish Communal Fund, the program will provide financial assistance, leadership development, and mentoring support to expand the pipeline of future nurse faculty into research-focused and practice-focused doctoral nursing programs.
The Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence will provide selected nursing students in doctoral programs with $10,000 in financial support, to be distributed in $5,000 installments for each of the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 academic years. The institution in which the student is enrolled will match the financial support amount and distribution schedule. In addition, schools will provide support for Scholars to attend a Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence/American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) leadership development conference in Washington, DC in fall 2013. At least one scholarship will be awarded for each state.
