Barbara and Donald Jonas Honored for their Support of the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing

Barbara and Donald Jonas with JHUSON Dean, Martha N. Hill, PhD, RN

In May, Barbara and Donald Jonas received the Worth B. Daniels, Jr, MD Award for their exemplary service to the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON).

“The Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence has been very generous in its financial support for tomorrow’s nursing leaders,” noted JHUSON Dean Martha N. Hill, PhD, RN. Barbara and Donald Jonas are the first recipients of the award since it was established in 2005 in the name of its inaugural recipient, Daniels, a Johns Hopkins School of Medicine graduate.

Jonas Center Partners with AACN to Expand Flagship Scholars Program

As part of our larger goal of supporting 150 new doctoral students across all 50 states, we have embarked on an exciting collaborative partnership with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) to expand the Jonas Nurse Leaders Scholar Program.  This initiative will provide financial assistance, leadership development and mentoring to support the entrance of aspiring nurse faculty into research-focused (PhD, DNS) and practice-focused (DNP) doctoral nursing programs.

“This vital program will increase the ranks of new nurses and prepare the future workforce to lead in ways that grow and advance the field. These nurses will sit at the health policy table, spearhead groundbreaking research and change nursing practice in ways to improve care and save even more lives,” said Donald Jonas.
