Our RIBN Journey Toward Excellence: Advancing Academic Progression in North Carolina 2008-2016

A report by the Foundation for Nursing Excellence (FFNE) which highlights the successful implementation of the Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) project in North Carolina and illustrates how FFNE acts as a catalyst to develop strategies for creating and sustaining a viable nursing workforce. The RIBN project began in 2008 as a partnership between the Jonas Center, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Northwest Health Foundation. The program joins community colleges and four year institutions in an approach that streamlines the path from an associate to a baccalaureate degree, which ultimately increases the number of nurses in each region who have advanced educations.
