American Academy of Nursing Policy Fellows (2014 – 2022)

The Academy-Jonas Policy Scholar’s program is designed to support early-career scholars with a two-year fellowship to learn critical skills on agenda setting, research, policy development, implementation and strategies that can be applied to help advance policy in our country.

 

Amount: $175,000; 2018-20 $64,800

• Convening emerging Nurse Policy leaders: 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 at AAN conference
• Leadership: Academic/Policy mentorship
• 24 Policy Scholars to date; 6 are also Jonas Scholars
• 11 published policy articles in peer reviewed journals
• Developing policy expertise in Jonas Priority areas: Environmental & Public health, Psych/MH/Substance Abuse, Aging, Women’s health, Military & Veterans health
• 2019-2020 Cohort will serve to support the Academy’s current policy priorities: (1) Advance Health Equity & Champion Wellness, (2) Promote Innovation and Sustainability, and (3) Reduce Patient, Provider, & System Burden
