Ana Verzone, MS, RN, FNP-BC, CNM

Biography

Ana Verzone received her BA in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz, her MS from the University of California at San Francisco, and her post-masters Certificate in Nurse-Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University. She is a member of the International Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau, and has also been inducted into the National Honor Society of Psychology, Psi Chi. Currently based in Anchorage, Alaska, she holds board certifications as both an FNP and CNM. She has worked in migrant farmworker clinics, Level I trauma centers, a CNM hospital-based practice for the underserved, a private integrative medicine clinic, and at Southcentral Foundation and Alaska Native Medical Center’s Rural Anchorage Service Unit as both an FNP and CNM, providing care in urban and remote regions of Alaska. She is also a clinical instructor and preceptor, and has volunteered internationally, including in Uganda, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Indonesia, and Nepal. She is pursuing her DNP at Frontier Nursing University with a focus on women’s and children’s health. Areas of interest include decreasing antibiotic use in pregnancy and in the pediatric population, applied positive psychology and self-compassion in the nursing role, improving delivery of postpartum care in rural areas, and decreasing the high rates of postpartum depression in underserved populations. Ms. Verzone is working towards a faculty position to teach advanced practice registered nursing students, helping to prepare them for the increasingly complex roles they are filling, especially in the demanding environments unique to remote and rural regions.
