Biography

Ms. Fray is a PhD student at Florida International University (FIU) in the candidacy phase of the program. Her program of research focuses on HIV-AIDS in women, specifically, exploring the factors that predict safer sex practices among HIV-infected veteran women across the lifespan, planning interventions, designing programs and policies that advance their care. She has worked in several specialties of nursing, including chronic pain management, medical-surgical, home health and has taught clinical nursing. Ms. Fray completed a BA (Hons.) in languages and politics at the University of the West Indies, and a BSN and MSN degrees at the University of Miami (UM), Florida. At UM she excelled in academics and leadership, receiving honors. She is the FIU nursing PhD student faculty representative. Ms. Fray joined Jackson Health System almost seven years ago as a member of the Center for Nursing Excellence/Education & Development where she coached frontline staff in evidence-based projects that improved patient care and/or clinical processes. She was instrumental in having many nurses present at research conferences for the first time. Ms. Fray has presented at several research conferences and has written two peer reviewed articles. She was recently promoted to Interim, Associate Director of Professional Nursing Practice at Jackson. Board certified by the ANCC as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Community & Public Health Nursing (PHCNS-BC), she peer reviews for the JANAC and the Journal of Pediatric Nursing. Ms. Fray is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, and other nursing and civic organizations.
