Vanderbilt University PhD
Biography

I am a PhD student at the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, and an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Phoenix, Arizona. During my early years of clinical practice I began to accumulate several clinical questions and was intrigued by the concept of using clinical research to answer them. This led me to pursue opportunities to perform clinical research studies as both a principal and co-investigator with guided mentorship and present the results at conferences. I am interested in investigating the pediatric patient’s role in communication and shared decision making in palliative care, as well as resilience among children who have life limiting illnesses and sibling bereavement. Most often when I meet my patients and their families they are in the midst of crisis. I have always been fascinated by the resilience children and their families display under these circumstances and am continually inspired by their strength. I am excited to have the opportunity to discover interventions and create evidence that can improve the quality of life for children with life limiting illnesses
