Biography

Carrie Jeffries is the Chief Nursing Officer within the Division of Community of HIV/AIDS Programs, HIV/AIDS Bureau, Health Resources and Services Administration where she continues to build upon her twenty years of HIV experience as a clinician, public health advocate and leader. Carrie is a DNP – Executive Leadership student at The George Washington University. Her research interest is on executive leadership and its impact on quality within healthcare systems. Carrie has authored, co-authored, and contributed to over 30 related abstracts, chapters, guidelines and articles. She has presented at numerous international and domestic conferences. Carrie is a recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Barnes-Jewish College Alumni Association and is a past recipient of the national HIV/AIDS Certified Nurse of the Year Award. In 2016, she was awarded the HRSA Administrator’s Special Citation for “ensuring high-quality HIV/AIDS care throughout the United States, exhibiting model leadership, and vastly exceeding Agency expectations.” She holds board certifications as a Nurse Executive – Advanced and as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. Additionally, Carrie has certifications as a practicing HIV specialist through the Academy of HIV Medicine and is an Advanced HIV/AIDS Certified Registered Nurse. Carrie earned a certificate in Executive Leadership from Cornell University; a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health; her Master of Science from the University of California, San Francisco School of Nursing; and Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Associate Degree in Nursing from the Jewish Hospital College of Nursing at Washington University.
