Casey Garvey, RN

Northeastern University PhD
Biography

I grew up in Groton, Massachusetts. While attending high-school, I was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. In 2006, I completed my Eagle Project, and was award the Eagle Rank. I began my studies for my BSN at Northeastern in 2007. While at Northeastern, I participated in co-op programs at Harvard Vanguard, New England Baptist Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). I graduated summa cum laude with my BSN in 2012. I also received the Academic Promise Award, which permitted me to return to Northeastern University to pursue my Ph.D. Prior to enrollment, I explored several areas of nursing. I briefly trained in perioperative nursing at MGH, however, I ultimately chose to pursue a different avenue. I worked for half a year in the Infection Control Unit and Massachusetts General Hospital, where I gained my interest in infectious diseases. I am currently attending Northeastern University for my Ph.D. in Nursing, and I am serving as a Student Graduate Assistant on a faculty research project. I am hoping to translate that interest into a career as a nurse researcher following completion of my dissertation.
