Biography

Danielle Conklin MS, NP-P, PMHNP-BC is a psychiatric nurse practitioner in private practice at Union Square Practice in NYC. She received her Master’s of Science Degree from New York University in advanced practice psychiatric mental health nursing.
Her graduate clinical experiences include working with children and adolescents at the Bellevue Hospital Center’s psychiatric emergency program and the child and adolescent psychiatric day treatment program. She also has experience working with veterans and their families at the Manhattan VA Medical Center where she was involved with a dialectical behavioral therapy group, the clozapine clinic and the ethics committee.
Upon graduation, Danielle received the NYU College of Nursing’s “Distinguished Student in Psychiatry” award. She is currently an adjunct professor at NYU’s graduate-level nurse practitioner program and continuing her studies in NYU’s Doctor of Nursing Practice Program as well.
Danielle worked for two years as a psychiatric staff nurse at Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital’s comprehensive psychiatric emergency program and at the Addiction Institute of New York’s inpatient detoxification and rehabilitation program. In addition to her regular duties, she helped to create a nurse-led motivational interviewing group for clients in detox to improve treatment retention and promote continuation of care post discharge.
Her particular area of interest is the effect of interpersonal trauma in childhood on the development of psychiatric illness in young adulthood. She is trained in the evidence-based trauma treatment Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and has experience with Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is also working toward the development of a trauma treatment subspecialty for advanced practice psychiatric nurses.
