Debi Hatton, MSN, RN, CMSRN

Biography

Debi Hatton received her first degree, a BS in Accounting, from the University of Kentucky. Debi worked for several years in various finance roles before deciding to pursue her nursing degree. After receiving her Accelerated BSN from Bellarmine University, she worked as a Medical Surgical/Progressive Care nurse at the University of Louisville Hospital. During that time, she attended Duke University where she received her MSN with a focus in Nursing Education. Debi is currently pursuing her PhD in Nursing at Indiana University. She is also employed as an adjunct nursing faculty at Bellarmine University. Her teaching interests include medical surgical nursing along with both clinical and simulation instruction. Debi is a member of the National League for Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International and the Academy for Medical Surgical Nurses. Debi’s doctoral research is focused on examining the use of a structured debriefing strategy, Debriefing for Meaningful Learning, as a way to enhance knowledge creation and clinical reasoning skills in undergraduate nursing students.
