Elen Yip, BSN
Biography
Ellie Yip received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiological Science from the University of California, Los Angeles and spent a year abroad in Japan as an English teacher before deciding to return to school to pursue nursing. She obtained her BSN degree from New York University and spent a few years working as a medical-surgical and intermediate care nurse at a private hospital in Las Vegas. Ms. Yip moved back to California and is currently working on her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at the University of San Diego. She enjoys her part time positions at the VA in the medical-surgical float pool and on the Definitive Observation Unit at Scripps. Ms. Yip developed an interest in diabetes prevention when she saw that patients are able to make complete changes in their lifestyle to control their blood sugars. She realized that she wanted to make an impact through primary and secondary preventative interventions so that fewer patients will need disease management.
