University of California-Davis PhD
Biography

I am currently enrolled in the PhD program at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. My research and clinical practice interests revolve around ways to improve inter-professional communication in the intensive care unit among a variety of providers, specifically through the use of a simulated environment. These simulated experiences would range in topics such as palliative care, nutrition, mobility and mechanical ventilation and would aim to increase collaboration and shared decision making among health care professionals. I have worked as a bedside nurse in intensive care for over a decade and have recently been promoted to critical care educator at the UC Davis Medical Center. I also work as a facilitator for all new nurse hires in the Nurse Resident Program in which I work with new nurses through their first year, facilitating classes in skills, leadership development, communication and an evidence-based project.
