I am currently starting my second year in a joint DNP/FNP program at Samuel Merritt University, with a graduation date of December 2016. Although I have not yet started my clinical coursework, geriatric health has always been a passion of mine ever since my maternal grandparents both died of medical malpractice while I was in nursing school. These two unfortunate events have made me determined to provide quality, safe care to all my patients, but especially to the elderly population. I am an ER RN at a level II trauma center in the Sacramento area, and mentor new graduate RNs outside of work. I also precept paramedic interns that come through the department, working on their assessment and motor skills. During nursing school at the University of San Francisco, I worked at the Nursing Skills Lab, as a medical assistant at an urgent care, and as a nursing tutor.
