Biography

Jennifer Malana, MSN, RN, is currently pursuing her doctoral studies at the University of California, San Francisco and earned both her MSN and BSN from the California State University, Sacramento. Prior to her career in nursing, Ms. Malana earned a BA in English with a minor in education and worked professionally as a legislative aide in the California State Assembly. Ms. Malana had the opportunity to blend her prior educational degree with nursing while service as faculty member at the California State University, Sacramento instructing clinical and theoretical courses, focusing on childbearing families, leadership and introductory research. Ms. Malana continues to maintain her clinical nursing practice as a perinatal nurse at the University of California, Davis Medical Center where she works with families from diverse backgrounds. Ms. Malana’s research interests are focused on family development, resilience and understanding the experiences of lesbian couples during the transition to parenthood.
