Joyce Brill, CPNP-AC

Widener University PhD
Biography

I am currently pursuing by PhD at Widener University. My area of research interest includes the application of situated coaching in the clinical practice area. I am also interested in the use of alternate technology formats, such as animation, in the delivery of educational programs for staff nurses. These interests came out of working with student nurses and staff nurses in the clinical education area as a clinical nursing instructor. I have been a pediatric nurse for 25 years and am currently working as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. My undergraduate education at Villanova University provided me with the opportunity to begin working as a nurse at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). While working at CHOP I was able to be involved in research as a staff nurse. At the same time, the environment encouraged lifelong education and I was able to complete my Master’s degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at the University of Pennsylvania. I continue to teach in an adjunct role for various nursing programs. I enjoy the practice area and embrace the idea of combining current practice with research and education.
