Biography

Ms. Karla Palmer received her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Indiana Wesleyan University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University. She has been employed with Michigan State University in the Undergraduate Program as a fixed term faculty member since 2015. She worked as a School Nurse for St. Johns Public School District for 15 years. She served as the Director in Michigan for the Michigan Association of School Nurses at the national level for two years. Ms. Palmer is passionate about school nursing and nursing education and the promotion of positive, healthy habits for all youth. She was designated as a Michigan Fitness Ambassador (2016) for the Michigan Fitness Council. She serves on several community organizations to support student health and wellness. Her research will focus on motivation related to physical activity in the adolescent population during the PhD in Nursing program. Following graduation, she plans to continue this research as a nursing faculty member in a research intensive university.
