My name is Kayla Chesley and I was born in raised in a rural town in North Dakota (Enderlin). Enderlin is located about 45 minutes south west of Fargo. I am currently a DNP student at NDSU, where I am working on a dissertation that focuses on improving mental health. I have worked as an RN in the following areas: intensive care, cardiac cath lab, and hospice. I plan to stay in the Fargo area when I graduate and work in family practice and provide access to rural residents. My interests include baking, traveling, animals, running, and spending time with my family and friends. Some people would like to call me “a crazy dog lady” as I love dogs. My boyfriend Jesse and I have a 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier. I keep trying to convince Jesse to get another dog. Now that it is summer, we will spend most of our weekends at our lake cabin in Minnesota. I am looking forward to this experience and emerging as a leader in the nursing profession.
