Laura Sherburne, MN, RN

Washington State University PhD
Biography

I am currently enrolled in Washington State University’s Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing- 2015 cohort. My topic of interest is in Genomics and Population health. I am interested in exploring the acceptance of utilizing genetic testing to identify future health risks with the goal to devise interventions that will prevent development of those identified risks. Currently, I work as a registered nurse at the Community Living Center of the Portland Veteran’s Administration caring for military veterans. I have been a nurse for over 18 years and have had the opportunity to practice in many aspects of nursing, both acute and outpatient settings, as a nurse educator, and patient educator. I am looking forward to further developing my skills as a nursing leader and patient advocate.
