University of Alabama at Birmingham PhD
Biography

I am a two-time graduate of The University of Alabama. I received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2012 and a Masters of Science in Nursing in 2014. I am a Clinical Nurse Leader and have a pediatric nursing background in both acute and intensive care settings. As a bedside nurse, I worked closely with people who have cystic fibrosis and became passionate about bettering their lives. Academically, I am a full-time student in the Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing program at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. My research interest is health-related quality of life of people who have cystic fibrosis. Over the past year, I was accepted into the competitive Clinical and Translational Science Training Program and gained over 50 hours of didactic instruction from renowned scientists. I also worked as a research assistant to gain experience with recruitment, data collection, and data analysis. As a Jonas Scholar, I hope to use my research and nursing knowledge to impact policies to accelerate the development and delivery of innovative treatments to move towards a cure for cystic fibrosis.
