Biography

Lori Catalano, JD, MSN, CCNS, PCCN is an assistant professor of clinical nursing at the University of Cincinnati. She received her BSN from UC in 1999, after which she worked as a charge nurse on cardiac step-down units both in Cincinnati and in Columbus, Ohio. She also worked as a travel nurse for two years, working around the nation. She earned her Juris Doctor degree in 2006, after which she worked as an associate attorney in Columbus, Ohio. She returned to healthcare, focusing on nursing education, and earned her MSN in 2011 from UC in the Clinical Nurse Specialist/Nurse Educator track. Lori began pursuing her PhD in nursing at Indiana University in May 2013. Her research focus area is advance care planning in patients with heart failure. She will be working with the palliative care team at Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis, Indiana for her Jonas Nurse Leaders and Scholars project. In addition to her teaching activity, Lori is active in both the local and national chapters of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and serves on the local membership committee. She is also active in the Ohio League for Nursing.
