Biography

Lorraine Schoen MS BSN RN Lorraine Schoen has over 20 years of healthcare experience in various settings across the continuum of care, including over 12 years in management in pediatric rehabilitation, acute care, long term care, and home health settings. Currently she is a Senior Director of Clinical Affairs of the Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA) and leads a variety of clinical and health system-related programs which support Massachusetts hospitals in continually improving patient safety and quality of care. Ms Schoen works closely on the Statewide Performance Improvement Agenda focusing on statewide initiatives to improve quality, improve efficiency, and improve safety, on CAUTI, CLABSI, SSI and readmissions. Currently she co-chairs the statewide Care Transitions Steering Committee working on reducing readmissions. Other responsibilities include aiding workforce development activities along with advancing the healthcare legislative and policy agenda of the hospital association. Lorraine also serves in leadership roles with the Organization of Nurse Leaders MA, RI, NH and CT where she has been a member since 2005. She is also very active with the Massachusetts Action Coalition where she tri-chairs the Academic and Practice Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies working group. Lorraine received her Diploma in Nursing from Lawrence Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and Master of Science in Nursing from Regis College. She is currently a DNP student at Regis College where her research will focus on improving care transitions across the continuum of care and reducing readmission.
