Biography

Mallory Perry is a 2014 graduate from the University of Connecticut, School of Nursing. Shortly after graduation, Mallory began her nursing career as a pediatric critical care nurse within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC). While at CCMC she has been involved within her unit’s research group. She has spearheaded several projects, including those to decrease alarm fatigue and pain management strategies. Mallory is also a Pain Resource Nurse, where she serves as a liaison for healthcare providers in providing safe and effective pain management strategies. She was named a Worldwide Leader in Healthcare and Top Registered Nurse in Hartford, Connecticut in 2015 by the International Nurses Association. In Fall 2015, Mallory returned to the University of Connecticut and began in the School of Nursing’s BS-PhD program. Her research interests lie within pediatric pain management and genomics. She plans to investigate the role of genetics in the management of pediatric postoperative pain. She is a graduate research assistant in the Center for Advancement of Managing Pain (CAMP) at the University. In conjunction with CAMP, she is also the graduate assistant for the University’s NIH-funded Center for Excellence in Pain Education (CoEPE). She was selected to attend the National Institute of Nursing Research’s Summer Genetics Institute (SGI) on the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD. Mallory is an active member of the Northern Connecticut Black Nurses Association, International Association of Pain and Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Nursing Society (Mu Chapter).
