Biography

Mary R. Franklin, MSN, RN, CNM is an instructor at Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland Ohio. She is currently enrolled in the DNP program at CWRU, and completed her DNP practicum in inter-professional education. Her research interests include informatics and health promotion/disease prevention, specifically cervical cancer screening and the prevalence of over-screening. She holds certification as a menopause practitioner and has a clinical practice as a certified nurse midwife at the Medina County Health Department, Medina Ohio. Her teaching responsibilities include maternity and newborn nursing, informatics, and well woman gynecology courses. She received her BSN and MSN degrees from CWRU.

Ms. Franklin received the Most Outstanding Nurse Midwife Award from the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (2002), the Ohio Exemplary Midwife award from the Ohio Chapters of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (2003), and the Clinical Star Award from the American College of Nurse-Midwives (2016). She was a member of the Council on Practice, Greater Cleveland Nurses Association from 1987 to 1990, a co-chair of the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the American College of Nurse-Midwives from 1989 to 1993, a member of the Medicaid Medical Advisory Committee, Ohio Department of Health from 1996 to 1999, and the membership chair and newsletter editor of the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses from 1996 to 1999.
