Biography

Maura Adams is currently a Doctorate in Nursing Practice student at the Catholic University of America. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing in Public Health Nursing from the Catholic University of America in 2014, and prior to that earned her BSN from Villanova University in 2007, where she also participated as a member of the NROTC unit. Following commissioning and graduation, she served 5 1/2 years as an active duty nurse in the US Navy, then switched to reserve status while in graduate school. She continues to work part time as a staff ED nurse at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital while working on her doctorate. Due to her time in service in the military, she had many opportunities for leadership and management, not only of subordinates but also of peers. Her deployment to Kuwait in 2011 allowed her the chance to serve as a Department Head, leading the Staff Education and Training department for the 6.5 months deployed. Her time working with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing allowed her opportunities in organizing and planning policy summits, as well as opportunities to represent the AACN at various committees. She currently resides in Alexandria, VA, grateful to be so close to everything Washington DC has to offer.
