Megan is a recent August 2018 graduate from the PhD in Nursing program at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. While at IUP, Megan received a graduate student research award and several other awards throughout the program. After graduation from her BSN program, Megan worked for several years in a Medical-Surgical ICU before she transitioned into a research role working on two grants funded through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Pennsylvania March of Dimes. After graduating with her Master’s in Public Health, Megan worked for several years as a community health nurse with Nurse-Family Partnership. Megan transitioned into higher education during her second year of the doctoral program. She is now entering her fourth year of teaching at Messiah College, where she currently teaches psychiatric-mental health nursing, historical and conceptual basis for nursing, senior practicum, and community health nursing. She co-advises the Pennsylvania Student Nurses Association at Messiah College and serves on several department and college-wide committees. In addition to teaching, Megan works per diem at Lancaster General Health: Penn Medicine as a community health nurse. In this role, Megan assists in community and corporate screenings, flu clinics, community lectures, healthy corner store initiatives, and other community events. Megan is a member of Sigma, Nurses Christian Fellowship, and the Association of Community Health Nurse Educators. Her research interests include self-care practices, health promotion and maintenance, mobile technology in nursing education, and vulnerable populations. She resides in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania with her husband Hunter and 2-year old son Maxwell.
