Biography

Melinda M. Luther received her BSN from Syracuse University of Syracuse in New York and her MS from Boston College in Massachusetts. She is currently a Professor and the Nursing Program, Chair at Nashua Community College in southern New Hampshire. Ms. Luther received the Community College System of New Hampshire’s Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2013. Ms. Luther serves as a member of the NH State Board of Nursing Practice and Education Committee, the NH Diversity Pipeline Project, and was an active participant in the New Hampshire Nurse of the Future, Robert Wood Johnson grant project from 2009-2011. This project aligned Associate Degree nursing curriculum, Baccalaureate Degree, RN-BSN pathways and practice partnerships to provide seamless transitions from education to practice for NH nurses. Prior to her career in nursing education, Melinda served as a pediatric nurse practitioner providing primary care to children and families from rural southern New Hampshire communities. Ms. Luther has served on a number of international short term missions, leading teams of nurses in collaboration with Non-Government Organizations (NGO) to conduct health clinics in Burmese orphanages and Ukrainian gypsy camps. The purpose of Ms. Luther’s proposed doctoral capstone project is to examine assessment measures used in pre-licensure nursing programs for efficacy, quality, and efficiency. This is in alignment with the National League for Nursing’s research priorities for educational measurement and evaluation.
