Biography

Michelle graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and was subsequently commissioned as a U.S. Navy Nurse Corps officer, serving in a variety of inpatient, outpatient and austere environments. She was honorably discharged and continued her education to earn her Master of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University as a Clinical Nurse Specialist with a forensic focus. Michelle is ANCC board-certified as an Adult Health CNS and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau. With over 14 years as a Registered Nurse, Michelle’s clinical experiences have included pediatrics, psychiatry, addiction medicine, psychology, family practice and emergency/trauma. Most recently, she has practiced in Emergency Medicine as a patient and staff safety officer, with responsibility for: investigation of potential safety concerns; safety education and consultation; and coordination and facilitation of multidisciplinary safety-related projects. Additionally, she has been actively involved in a medical malpractice insurance-sponsored multi-health system loss prevention and patient safety collaborative. Michelle has professional interests in violence prevention, inter-professional collaboration and communication, and health care team safety. Michelle currently resides in Carroll County, Maryland with her husband, their two beautiful daughters, and a frustrating but amusing cat named Lily.
