Biography
Currently I am attending the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing at the University of Wyoming completing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree within the family nurse practitioner (FNP) track. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwest Nazarene University in 2007, graduating Magna Cum Laude, along with receiving an invitation into the Delta Phi Lambda Honor Society for being in the top 15% of my graduating class combined with faculty vote. Additionally, I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boise State University in 2010 and since then have developed professional nursing experience as a clinical nurse educator along with experience in acute and critical care. As a future DNP prepared FNP within a rural community, I wholeheartedly aspire to incorporate my leadership skills into promoting the utilization of evidence-based practice guidelines, health behavior change, and innovative practice changes that will improve the health of the people within my community. Currently, my clinical area of interest is within family medicine as I thoroughly enjoy the challenge required to stay current on evidence-based practice with patients of all ages. I also recognize the inherent additional strength of providing health education and guidance within health behavior change to patients of which I have developed a lasting relationship with. While integrating vital leadership skills, I plan to be deeply rooted within my rural community in order to fully understand the culture, health needs, and resources to be able to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care.
