Onome Osokpo, MSN, RN, is a Fortaine Scholar and a Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Doctoral Fellow, Research on Vulnerable Women, Children and Families (T32NR007100) at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Also, Osokpo is an Associate Fellow, Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics. He earned a BSN at Stony Brook University and an MSN at the University of Pennsylvania. His degrees prior to nursing comprise a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry Education and a Master’s of Science in Analytical Chemistry. His research focuses on blacks in the U.S., who are disproportionately affected by cardiovascular diseases. Osokpo is particularly interested in cultural factors influencing self-care, symptom perception, and promptness in seeking care among heart failure patients. He is a consultant and presenter for the Philadelphia Corporation of Aging. Osokpo serves as a member of the Diversity Committee of New York State Action Coalition. Osokpo was a member of American Association of Colleges of Nursing Inaugural Graduate Nursing Student Academy Policy Committee. Osokpo is an adjunct clinical faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, and was an adjunct clinical faculty at Widener University.
