Biography

Sarah a is nursing instructor and PhD candidate at the School of Nursing, Saint Louis University where she is also completing a Family Nurse Practitioner post-master certificate. Sarah earned her BSN from the University of Cincinnati and two Master’s degrees (in nursing and in education) from Xavier University. The long term goal of Sarah’s research is to promote healthy parent-preteen relationships and prevent behavior problems in preteens living in rural communities. Her research is informed by diverse pediatric clinical experience, and her practice spans from advanced hospital critical care to community-health for families in rural America. As a Jonas Nurse Leader, Sarah’s publications include peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, editorials and Op-Eds.

Sarah is a Jonas Policy Scholar for the American Academy of Nursing where her policy research supports the expert panel on Psychiatric, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse. She is an associate editor for Nursing Open, an At-Large Board Member and the Emerging Scholars Network representative of the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS), and a Section Counselor of the Public Health Nurse Section of the American Public Health Association. In 2019, Sarah won a county-wide election and serves as the vice chair of the Phelps County Extension Council with headquarters in Rolla, Missouri.
