New York University DNP
Biography

My name is Shani Irby and I’m a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in outpatient Adult Bone Marrow Transplant at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). I started my first nursing job at MSKCC in March 2007 as an inpatient nurse on a neurology/orthopedics/pain and palliative unit. I then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at MSKCC in 2009. I received my MSN while working full-time and my first job as a NP at MSKCC was on the inpatient Adult Bone Marrow Transplant service. I started on the inpatient Adult Bone Marrow Transplant unit in 2/2011. Prior to working there, I worked at a primary care office in Queens and did home visits for another organization in Manhattan for a year. My passion for nursing is very strong. I’m looking forward to starting the DNP program at New York University this Fall 2016. My patients and their family members inspire me to do everything I can to deliver the best care to them. I want to continue learning and growing. The knowledge and experience I obtain by receiving my DNP will help me to better serve my patients and their loved ones. I hope to obtain leadership and research skills to be able to better implement evidence based practices at work and in the community.
