My name is Tami Fikstad Byrd. I am currently a student in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice program with an emphasis on family primary care, at the University of Utah. I have been in practice as a nurse for the past eighteen years primarily working with women and infants; the past two years I have enjoyed working in the newborn intensive care unit. I completed my Bachelors of Science in Nursing in the Fall of 2014, receiving high honor awards during each semester of the program. I enjoy working with and mentoring nursing students in my current field of nursing, and am looking forward to expanding this experience as a primary care provider. My goal for primary practice includes caring for children and families in a rural healthcare setting, where I can combine my love for patient care with my love of the outdoors.
