TaSondra Foltz received her undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Madonna University, her BSN and MSN from Oakland University (family nurse practitioner) and will be earning her DNP from Oakland University. TaSondra was affected by the auto industry and received the No Worker Left Behind (State of Michigan) and Return to Earn (Oakland University) scholarships for those affected by the auto industry. TaSondra currently works as a Mental Health nurse at the John D. Dingell Veterans Administration Hospital in Detroit (JDDVAMC). TaSondra is married to a disabled veteran who served in Operation Desert Storm and has 1 daughter and 2 stepdaughters. She aspires to continue her work with our military veterans as she transitions into an advance practice role as a DNP within the VA medical system. She has collaborated with her peers and Psychologist to reform Recovery Groups for the veterans on the inpatient mental health unit. TaSondra and her peers advocated changing the current recovery workbook to align with the rapidly changing mental health population at the JDDVAMC. This has improved participation in recovery groups by approximately 75%. She has cared for veterans from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom and other wars who present with an array of mental health diagnoses post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Total Brain Injury (TBI) and victims of Military Sexual Trauma victims (MST). She has experience in geriatrics and chronic illnesses. Her research “Literature Review of Bronchial Thermoplasty to Control Moderate or Severe Asthma” is currently being submitted for publication.
